Silverado was thrilled to host Dr. Randall Boyle – security expert, professor and author – to speak about our growing dependence on connected devices.

From smartphones and smartwatches to toys and thermostats, there has been an exponential growth of devices connected to the internet.  All of these advancements provide us with improved productivity, greater communication, and new ways to accomplish daily tasks like shopping and driving.

However, with all of these innovations, comes a need to protect against those individuals intending to do harm with viruses, ransomware, data theft, and worse.

Silverado advises a layered approach to security to defend against these threats.  For more information on how to protect yourself and your business contact us today!

It was a fun weekend for us here at Silverado.  Gene and Pauline Hechler, owners of Silverado Technologies, got to spend some time sampling wines and supporting the youth of Tucson at the annual wine tasting hosted by Youth on Their Own on Saturday evening.  Youth On Their Own (YOTO) is a dropout prevention program that supports the high school graduation and continued success of homeless, unaccompanied youth in Pima County.  We were thrilled to have the opportunity to support such an amazing organization – and enjoy some delicious wine at the same time!

Sunday brought another opportunity to give back to our community.  Silverado employees supported the Human Society of Southern Arizona’s Sweat for Pets fundraiser.

We were thrilled to welcome FBI Security Agent James P. Cullen from the FBI Cyber Crimes Division to talk about current cyber threats facing businesses.  Partnering with Regier Carr & Monroe, Crest Insurance, and Farhang & Medcoff Attorneys, Silverado hosted the event to help spread the word about these very real threats facing local Tucson businesses.

In his opening statements, Agent Cullen referenced an FBI Director, stating “There are two kinds of companies: those that have been hacked and those that will be hacked or will be hacked again.”  With those kinds of odds, it’s important to protect yourself and your business.  The FBI recommends a layered security approach – offering a multi-faceted defense against cyber criminals.
